Behind the song

The story behind it.

“Red Flags” was inspired by the warning signs people can identify perfectly in hindsight —and somehow negotiate with in the moment. The opening count tells the whole story: one flag is noticed, two becomes a joke, three finally sends her walking, and four forces her to admit her own role in staying. That flash of accountability keeps the song from being only a takedown; the narrator is laughing at the men, but she is also laughing at the version of herself who kept giving them another chance. The verses turn bad dating behavior into a rapid-fire checklist: hidden texts, missing jobs, borrowed money, stale excuses, terrible hygiene, and even stolen fries. Spoken interruptions and cultural references make the song feel like a chaotic conversation with friends after the relationship is already over—the kind where every new detail earns another “red flag” and the jokes get sharper as the truth becomes more obvious. Under the comedy is a clean boundary. “Not my circus, not my clown” is the narrator refusing to manage someone else’s mess, and the final chant strips away any temptation to argue, fix, or fight. “Red Flags” is ultimately about graduating from recognizing warning signs to acting on them—leaving the chaos behind before someone else’s pattern becomes your responsibility.

Lyrics

Red Flags

One red flag — I see clear
Two red flags — hold my beer
Three red flags — I walk free
Four red flags — that's on me
How do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways
DMs his ex — red flag
Hides his texts — red flag
Needs my money — red flag
Smells too funky — red flag
Axe body spray is not deodorant
Red flags, get out of my face
Turn around, outta my space
Not my circus, not my clown
Crash and burn — outta my town
Here I go again
Blame game strong — red flag
Can't be wrong — red flag
Job's long gone — red flag
Lives with mom — red flag
Thought it was funny to make fun of a stutter - No cap
Ch ch ch Champagne taste — red flag
Ka-ka-ka Kool-Aid budget — red flag
Still on t-t-t Tinder — red flag
Calls me l-l-l Linder — red flag
Like Britney — it's Lyra… bitch
Can't drive — red flag
Can't last — red flag
Little lies — red flag
Steals my fries — red flag
Never touch a womans fries, A-A-ron
Red flags, get out of my face
Turn around, outta my space
Not my circus, not my clown
Crash and burn — outta my town

Red flag — not my scene
Red flag — not with me
Red flag — not tonight
Red flag — not my fight
Not my fight
