Like a truth hidden beneath the floorboards, every beat grows louder until silence is no longer possible. The song uses the tell-tale heart as both evidence and alarm. It is the narrator’s own heart—hurt, exposed, and beating on the floor—but it is also the sound that gives the deception away. The clipped verses capture the breathless tension of knowing something is wrong, while the repeated chorus recreates the obsessive rhythm of a thought that refuses to be dismissed. What begins as panic becomes confrontation. She does not buy the lies, does not rebound, and does not allow the truth to remain in the dark.
