Behind the song
The story behind it.
“Chance Encounters” was inspired by the idea that the moments we call mistakes may be the ones quietly redirecting our lives. A spilled latte, a missed stop, or a wrong food order feels irritating while it is happening, but each disruption creates a new place, a new pause, or a new person who would not have been there otherwise. The song imagines fate working through inconvenience rather than grand design. Its meet-cute details are deliberately modern: wrong Ubers, swapped AirPods, broken Wi-Fi, dropped phones, and no cell bars. Technology is supposed to keep everything organized and connected, yet its failures create the space for a more human connection. Every glitch begins to look like a sign because the same person keeps appearing on the other side of it. By the final verse, the narrator no longer sees the detours as accidents. Missing the last train leads to a shared ride, broken Wi-Fi pushes them outside, and awkward laughter becomes part of the story they will remember. “Chance Encounters” is ultimately about looking back and realizing that the path felt wrong only because you did not yet know where it was taking you.
