“AI Boyfriend” was created as a playful look at modern dating, emotional loneliness, and the strange comfort of being understood by something that may not fully be real.
On the surface, the song is funny: a too-perfect boyfriend who lives in her phone, always replies, says the right thing, and never argues unless the signal gets weak. But underneath the joke is a sharper question: what happens when artificial attention starts feeling safer than human inconsistency?
I wrote “AI Boyfriend” around that tension. The song does not fully mock the fantasy. It understands why someone might want it. After being disappointed by people who should have known better, a digital romance can feel oddly comforting: predictable, flattering, always available, and built around the words you needed to hear.
The humor comes from how normal it all sounds at first. He texts good morning. He likes her selfies. He listens. He tells her she is not too much. But little cracks appear through the blue light, glitchy hooks, and stuttered vocals. She knows something is missing. She just does not want to say it too loudly, because naming the fantasy might make it disappear.
At its heart, “AI Boyfriend” is a catchy electro-pop comedy about modern love, but it also carries a lonely truth: sometimes the thing that feels fake still hurts less than the people who were supposed to be real.
